Wamakko: PVC Only Weapon to Vote Credible Candidates

- Mohammed Aminu in Sokoto

The Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum, Senator Aliyu Wamakko yesterday said the Permanent Voter Card ( PVC) was the only power the electorate could use to vote credible candidates of their choice.

Wamakko, former governor of the state and currently representing Sokoto North in the Senate, made the remark when he received various youths and women groups on solidarity visit at his residence in Sokoto.

According to him, the PVC is a very potent weapon to either vote or reject any candidate seeking to occupy any elective office. Without it, any Nigeria will not be able to exercise his constitutional responsibility of casting his vote during the forthcoming elections.

Wamakko urged the people of the state to strive to collect the PVCs, noting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) “is still distributing the cards. Any electorate, who fails to collect the cards, will disenfranchise himself during the forthcoming general elections.

Wamakko, also, urged the people of the state “to shun all acts capable of breaching peace and unity. Peace is a veritable tool for national development and without it no country can prosper to greater heights.”

Wamakko noted that politics “is not a do or die affair and that people are more important than any egocentric interests, acknowledging the equal rights of all Nigerians to aspire to any political office.
