Presidency Earmarks N700m to Rebuild Institutions in Benue

The Presidential Committee on Victim Support Fund has set aside N700 million to rebuild institutions destroyed in the perennial attacks by suspected herdsmen in Benue State.
This is coming as the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Damian Chukwu yesterday disclosed that Boko Haram insurgents burnt down 40 houses in a reprisal in Mailari village in Guzamala Local Government Area (LGA) of the state on Sunday.
The government’s plan to rebuild institutions in Benue State was disclosed yesterday by the Executive Director of the Fund, Prof. Sunday Ochoche in Gbajimba, the headquarters of Guma Local Government Area (LGA) of the state during the flag-off of the reconstruction of public infrastructure destroyed by herdsmen.
The executive secretary said the committee would be rebuilding public institutions in the three LGAs of the state - Guma, Logo and Agatu, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Damian Chukwu yesterday disclosed that Boko Haram insurgents burnt down 40 houses in a reprisal in Mailari village in Guzamala Local Government Area (LGA) of the state on Sunday.
Chukwu however, told journalists that the state police command had not ascertained the casualty figure.
“Two weeks earlier, the vigilante in that community arrested a Boko Haram element with AK47 and after beating him, he was handed over to the military.
“The marauding militants who were pissed with the development decided to lunch the massive attack to avenge the arrest. They passed several villages on their way to Mailari.”
