Lawmaker Launches Free Health Care
The lawmaker representing Apapa 1 constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mojisola Lasbat, commenced the provision of free health services to people in his constituency.
Speaking during the programme tagged, “Free Health Mission”, Lasbat stated that the initiative was aimed at giving back to her constituency, adding that she was passionate about the endeavour. She said being an indigene of the constituency, there was the need to carry the people along, in the scheme of things.
She added that the initiative which is a four-day programme, would hold for two days in Apapa and two days in Ijora, adding that there would be hypertension and diabetics screening, eye-treatment consultation, sundry medication, offer of eye glasses, a dental session, consultation, polishing and scaling of teeth, and others; all, at no cost to the beneficiaries
“This is not the first initiative I will be embarking on in the community, as I have also carried out series of programmes in the education sector. When I was the local government supervisor for health, I did a similar programme where I brought in medical doctors from Texas, USA.
“For it is not new to me and the Apapa people. I have benefitted from this initiative, so it is time to give back to the community. I am not expecting anything in return; they have given me so much. So, it is time to give back to them.
“In carrying out this initiative, I partnered with some non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and corporate bodies,” he explained.
Lasbat commended the community leaders for sensitising members of their communities who came out in large number for the exercise.
