Clearline Advocates Quality Assurance for Better Health Insurance Delivery

- Martins Ifijeh

The Managing Director, Clearline HMO International, Dr. Isaac Akintunji has stated that quality assurance is an essential ingredient for the provision of health insurance delivery in Nigeria, as it enables providers to focus on providing qualitative services to the citizens.

Stating this in a release made available to THISDAY recently, he said without quality assurance, malpractices and fraudulent claims, would be the order of the day.

He said: “Quality assurance in healthcare practice has reduced redundancy and truancy to the barest minimum. It is only through quality assurance that providers are able to provide top class services to the enrollees of the health insurance scheme.

“Quality assurance also helps improve patient out- come to enhance believability in the health insurance scheme. Quality goals are set while strategies are developed to ensure that the services offerings adhere to the professional standards set in the industry.”

He therefore urged HMOs in the country to raise the bar of quality assurance in the health insurance sector in order to sustain and move it to the next level.

Akintunji says Clearline HMO was poised to enhance the status of health assurance through its dynamic and innovative approach to ensure that the health insurance scheme is developed through best ethical practices and technical expertise.

Adding that HMO’s should consistently monitor services provided for enrollees by the hospitals, he reiterated that quality assurance will engender growth in the healthcare industry, because once enrollees are offered best services, they will propagate the scheme to others for believability.

Akintunji also charged the government to propagate health insurance scheme and make it compulsory for Nigerians, create awareness and also promote the benefits of the scheme.
