Lawmaker Organises Free Health Mission for Constituency
The lawmaker representing Apapa 1constituency in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mojisola Lasbat, has organised a free health mission in Apapa and Ijora areas of Lagos.
Speaking during the free health mission, Lasbat said the initiative was aimed at giving back to her constituency, adding that she is passionate about the initiative, and as an indigene of the constituency, there is need to carry the people in the scheme of things.
She said the initiative which is a four- day programme, would consists of two days in Apapa and two days in Ijora, adding that there would be hypertension, and diabetics screening, free eye consultation, free medication and eye glasses, dental session, consultation, polishing and scaling of teeth, and others.
She noted that this is not the first initiative she is embarking in the community, adding that she has carried out series of programmes which involves the education sector.
She also commended the community leaders for sensitising the residents, whom she noted came out in large numbers for the exercise.
According to her, “I am not expecting anything in return; they have given me so much. It is time to give back to them. In carrying out this initiative, I partnered some Non- Governmental Organisations ( NGOs), and corporate bodies.
“The community leaders have been wonderful. They have been the ones reaching out to the people. They have been sensitising these people and telling them about this programme. I cannot stop this initiative, it will be a continuous exercise.
“My next programme may not be health programme, it might be something else. I have done different projects such as water projects, back to school for primary pupils, I supported secondary schools students with Jamb forms, and I have done furniture for schools.
“I have a monitoring team for initiatives I carried out in the community. For instance for the water project, I have a team monitoring that and they give me report on the situation of things if there are challenges. For those I give Jamb form to I get feedbacks. After Jamb, all those that did well, I assisted them in getting admission into school. There is no support from Lagos State Government.”
