SAHCOL Appoints New MD

TheSkywayAviationHandlingCompanyLimited(SAHCOL)hasconfirmed the appointment of Mr. Basil Agboarumi as the company’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. His appointment as substantive MD/CEO was announced in a letter to him having served in an Acting capacity for the past six months. Agboarumi holds a National Diploma (OND) in Mass Communication fromtheFederalPolytechnic,Auchi,aHigherNationalDiploma(HND)in Mass Communication from the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, a Masters in Communications Studies (Mcs) from the Lagos State University, and a CertificateinCreativeDesignandDigitalCommunicationfromtheSchool of Media and Communications of the Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos. He joined the Skypower Aviation Handling Company Limited, then a subsidiaryoftheNigeriaAirwaysLimited,asthePioneerStaff/Headof the Public AffairsUnit. Aftertheprivatisationandsubsequenttakeover of Skypower Aviation Handling Company Limited by the SIFAX Group in 2009, he was appointed Head of Corporate Communications, with a mandate to spearhead the re-branding of the new Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited. He was later elevated to the position of General Manager in 2013 in charge of the Corporate Communications & Information Technology (IT) Departments of SAHCOL, providing leadership for the day to day operations of the units until his recent appointment. Agboarumi is a member of the Institute of Directors (IoD Nigeria), a FellowoftheNigerianInstituteofPublicRelations(FNIPR),anAssociate Member of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (arpa), and an Aluminous of the Pan-Atlantic University. Agboarumiisanenthusiasticandpassionateprofessional,withmorethan 18years’experiencewithincreasedleadershipskillsandabilitiesinAviation GroundHandling&PublicRelations/Management;demonstratingastrong background in government, corporations and nonprofit organizations.
