Ayade, Ita Giwa’s Reconciliation
Last Sunday, Sen. Florence Ita-Giwa, a former Special Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on National Assembly Affairs, launched her much-publicised Campaign Against Human Trafficking and Sex Slavery at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, amidst fanfare.
The event, which also featured the unveiling of the 2018 Carnival Calabar theme, was attended by many dignitaries and celebrities, who came to support Ita-Giwa, fondly called Mama Africa.
Interestingly, many of the guests were pleasantly surprised when the master of ceremonies announced the presence of Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Prof. Ivara Ejemot Esu, eulogised the woman of substance for her unrelentless love for the people of the state.
What is perhaps more interesting is that Ayade’s presence at the event has further laid to rest the rumour of disagreement between him and Ita-Giwa.
Last year, many received with disbelief the report of a crisis between the duo who were once tagged mother and son.
It was reported that the rift developed after some officials of the state government allegedly diverted some relief materials sourced by Ita-Giwa for Internally Displaced People (IDP) in Bakassi from the National Refugee Commission.
It was also alleged that trouble began after Ita-Giwa defected to the ruling All progressives Congress, APC, early this year.
This move by Ita-Giwa was said to have infuriated the governor who is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
At the height of the disagreement, many top personalities and concerned individuals had called them for truce but all were fruitless.
However, while many believed the fight would not end, Society Watch had exclusively reported that the two political heavyweights were back together as they were now in speaking terms.
‘’The ‘war’ is now over. The two Cross River State political gladiators are back like before,’’ our source had revealed.
