But the sad development currently playing out between two brothers in Katsina State aptly fits into this description.
Or how better can one describe the smouldering war between Ahmad Kaita , and his brother, Kabir Kaita?
Society Watch gathered that the ugly incident, which may destroy the family ties among the Kaitas, is not unconnected with the senatorial ambition of the feuding siblings in the state.
A source close to the family disclosed that both have allegedly refused to see eye to eye over what they termed as ‘betrayal of trust’
It was disclosed that the enmity between the once jolly good brothers started following the demise of the senator representing Katsina North Senatorial District , Sen. Bukar Mustapha, a situation that necessitated a by-election.
Many were stunned when Hon. Ahmad Kaita of the All Progressives Congress, currently representing Kusada/Ingawa/ Kankia constituency in the House of Representatives challenged his elder brother, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the position.
It was a fierce battle between the two, as disclosed by our source. The House of Representatives member was persuaded to step down for his brother since he was already a member of the lower chamber, but he bluntly refused.
Being in the ruling party from President Buhari’s home state, it was obvious that he would definitely coast home to victory and this was exactly what played out.
Following his victory, trouble reared its ugly head, as the elder brother has vowed to fight to the finish, saying the election was a mere charade and that his brother engaged in vote-buying.
