Ambode: Obesere’s Gush of Fury

-

Just when you were thinking that the familiar commotion in the House of Fuji music had abated, or even ended, the embers of enmity still burning in the hearts of two big acts in the industry, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, KWAM 1, and Abass Akande, aka Obesere, have refused to be covered up.

Though both have never pretended to be friends, the recent open attack by Obesere on KWAM 1, famously known as K1 De Ultimate, was the fallout of the crisis currently rocking the Lagos chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Obesere reportedly took a swipe at KWAM I over what he termed “his utter disrespect” for the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, who is currently fighting the battle of his life, politically, as the 2019 general election draws near.

In a video that went viral last week, KWAM I, who spoke in Yoruba in the midst of a small gathering, allegedly said: “All the good things in Lagos happened during Tinubu and Fashola’s regimes. This other madman only does his mouth like this! He scammed me for three and a half years. I campaigned for him when he had nothing.

“Now that he has gained power and stolen enough money, he is misbehaving like a god. We have used “oro” cult to chase the madman away. He is not coming back. We have used the curse of life to kill him. He should go and spend the money inside “koto”. He is no longer coming (Ambo)’’.

However, in a swift reaction, an obviously miffed Obesere literally tore KWAM I apart, saying, “He is an ingrate who does not always care to bite the hand that fed him.”

He further said that KWAM 1’s uncharitable conduct and outburst against Ambode in his trying period is a clear indication that “he is nothing but a serial betrayer.”

Obesere, who also disclosed that he had tried to keep KWAM 1 at bay over the years, added that “As musicians, we are people’s property.

I am free to support anybody that I like, but I won’t come out in the open to smear the character of anybody, not to talk of someone I have benefited from in one way or the other. What is happening in Lagos State is purely political and should be left to the politicians to resolve.

‘’You will recall that the same man betrayed our legend in the Fuji Music industry, the late Alhaji Ayinde Barrister, some years back. He came out in the open to deny the man who was his benefactor and called him all sorts of names.

“He once rubbished another amongst our highly respected seniors in the business, Alhaji Ayinla Kollington, and I can go on and on to relay some of his past ignoble actions that portrayed him as someone who cannot be trusted. And that exactly has been the crux of our disagreements overtimes.

“The latest one against Governor Ambode is quite unfortunate and as a stakeholder and someone who doesn’t love to hide his feelings, I think we should all let him know that, what comes around, goes around and what is not good is not good.’’
