IN PRAISE OF HAMMANADAMA NJABARI
Alot of people in the last one year are commending the government for the foresight in bringing on board a very dynamic and resultoriented person, Hammanadama Njabari, as the chairman of the revenue board. He laid a solid foundation for the generation of revenue accruing to the state so that it can complement what is got from the Federation Allocation. The state board of internal revenue under Alhaji Njabari was able to carve a direction towards achieving the set goal of the present administration, poised to making a difference in the conduct of doing government business.
It is important to stress that the last one year was quite eventful in the history of Adamawa State. This is evident in how the current chairman of the board is up and doing in curbing the excesses of corrupt officials of the board, hitherto at the forefront of siphoning the resources of the board and denying the government of substantial revenue in implementing some of its campaign promises to the people.
The chairman has so far laid a solid foundation in enhancing the revenue generation profile of the state in the last one and half years in office.
The leadership of the board is now anchored on prudence and accountability. There is commitment to the job as well as ensuring that tax payers’ money are judiciously utilised in the provision of infrastructure for the benefit of the generality of the people of the state.
In fact, the revenue profile has dramatically shot to an unprecedented level today. And this was made possible due to the devotion and total commitment of the chairman.
Due to the chairman’s motivation, the staff of the board are today ranked among the best in terms of courteous disposition to the people who come to the board to do business, either to obtain licence, motor vehicle registration and payment of the various taxes. This has greatly enhanced the revenue base of the state.
The sensitisation programme embarked upon by the chairman through the department in- charge of communication has gone a long way in making the people, especially market men and women, to realise the importance of paying tax to the government.
It is worth mentioning the fact that the chairman, Alhaji Njabari, believes in collective responsibility as such, he gives all his directors the free hand to do their jobs without interference. This has made them to redouble their efforts to making what the board of internal revenue is today.
