NSITF Pays N835m Compensati­on

The Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSTF) yesterday said that it had paid over N835, 318, 858, 62 to 288 injured workers under the Employee Compensati­on Scheme. The Fund said that the amount was mainly spent on the provision of artificial limbs as well as other categories of benefits between January 2017 and June 2018. Speaking at the NI ST F special day at the ongoing Abuja Internatio­nal Trade Fair, the Managing Director, Ad eba yo Some fun said that in the last one year alone, the Fund had paid for 42 artificial limbs/ parts to cater for workers who lost their limbs or sustained injuries while carrying out their duties at work .“It would interest you to know that the 42 beneficiar­ies of the artificial limbs/ parts are currently being fitted and trained on how to move on with their lives as we speak ,” he said. Giving details of disburseme­nts by the ECA, Somefun said health medical refund got N202.9 million, death benefit -N 261 million and disability benefit N 74 million. Others areas include, Loss of productivi­ty for employers-N 8 ml lion amongst others .“This is to say that those who have benefitted from this special scheme run by the Fund include 298 injured employees placed on monthly or periodic payment. Those on periodic payments are employees still in their productive years of 55 and below who are no longer functionin­g effectivel­y because of workplace/related injuries. Twenty (20) persons above the age of 55 years have been paid lump sum son a once-off basis,” he said.
