I Feel Younger with Sexy Photos of My 40th Birthday

-

Becky Adediwura, fondly called Blarkgold, is one actress who has carved a niche for herself in the ever booming movie industry. With over 10 years experience as an actor, she has proven herself worthy and has further diversified into other sectors of Nollywood. Blarkgold recounts to Tosin Clegg her difficult childhood, and how the movie ‘Lizard’ shot her to fame

AAdediwura is an outspoken woman dediwura is a young talented, outspoken woman in her early forties. A mother, an actor, founder of an NGO and a graduate of English. On set, I am a very calm person, though I mingle but not too much. I try to bury myself in whatever character I play, get my lines and deliver. Offset, I am the playful and troublesome Wura. I love having fun and creating happiness within my circle so I party a lot, but at the same time, I am a homely girl. Sometimes, I stay indoors for a week (ask my friends) but if I decide to have fun nothing can stop me.

Growing up was interesting and difficult

That was because at some point, reality sets in, my parents went their separate ways, things became tough but we scaled through. Academically, I am sound but the financial aspect made it slow and worse. I left secondary school in 1996, had to hustle for seven years to gather some money before I could go to university and I got admission in 2003/2004 into LASU. My family is simply the best despite the storm; we wax stronger in love and unity. We fought through and we conquered. When I was a child, my dream was to become a musical artiste or a dancer, and nothing more; just because I love entertainment.

Recognition came when I shot the movie Lizard, ‘Alangba’

Although society reckoned with me it wasn’t as real and cordial as it became after I shot Lizard. Then, reality sets in. My brain functions non-stop, fame is sweet so I craved for more. I ponder day and night on what next to do and how to carve a niche for myself.

My journey into movies started in 2008 That was when I met a marketer of Tenifab Motion Pictures, the Late Abdul Fatai Teniola. I met him at my sister’s office off Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos. I was singing when he walked in to patronise my sister. He listened to me and beckoned to me. He acknowledged how sweet my voice is and told me ‘I am a Marketer and a Producer. Presently, I am working on a movie script that has to do with music’ and he popped the question ‘would you love to act’. I responded ‘yes’ with a wide smile because it was a great opportunity for me. I went to his office for an audition and I got the lead character. That was the first movie I featured in- ‘Afiwo’. Late Teniola gave me the platform I am building on today. May his soul rest in peace!

Haven’t encountered any challenging movie yet

And that’s because I have a passion for what I do, so nothing is challenging. I will always strive to put in my best no matter how odd it may seem.

I have featured in a couple of great movies

I have lost count of the number of films I have featured in, but in 2008-2010, the first set of people I acted with were Adeolu Funso, Faithia Williams, Yomi Fash Laso, Jumoke George, Jaiye Kuti, Aina Gold, Femi Adebayo, Ronke Oshodi Oke and Muyiwa Ademola. Others till date are, Antar Laniyan, Clarion Chukwura, Iyabo Ojo, Bolanle Ninalowo, Madam Saje, Segun Abiola Williams, Odun Adekola, ToyinAbraham, Bimbo Oshin, Dayo Amusa, Yinka Quadri, Ibrahim Chatta and more.

My first production was ‘Ikoko’ And that was followed by Lizard ‘Alangba’ after which I wrote and coordinated a story called ‘Eedu’ then I became a Brand Ambassador to Play TV and I produced an English movie for them titled, Deep Heat. This year, I have had two productions. ‘Bile Oronro’ came out about a month ago. The second production was the 40th Birthday; we are presently on post-production. It will come out hopefully before the end of the year.

I released all my movies on my production company, Blarkgold Signatures; anything that comes through me on entertainment falls under Blarkgold Signatures. Well, Blarkgold was coined out of who Adediwura is. I took the Black from my complexion and the Gold is simply the English translation of my name Wura. I simply set myself as my trademark!

I Started my NGO in 2015 I needed to give back to the society and I thought of blessing little children out of the little I have. Then, I took some kids to Playzone at Maryland and the following year to Apapa Amusement Park after a while I took my friends and we all went to Destitute Home at Ebutte Metta to support the kids there.

I came up with Giving Is Fun Initiative in the same year and diverted to helping widows due to what my mum had been through being a widow. I have seen the agony of a dying widow, have watched my mum toil day and night just for us to survive. My mum sold everything she had to put us through school. She did terrible odd jobs so we could make ends meet.

Giving Is Fun Initiative supports a lot of things

It is a registered NGO to create employment opportunities for widows through skills acquisition training and seminars. To empower widows to be self-accountable and self-reliant thereby extricate themselves from poverty. To provide physical and financial assistance to widows in need and also to provide material gift and relief to those in need.

About my new projects Widow’s Story is going to be a film documentary based on true life story about some of the widows Giving Is Fun Initiative has encountered during our survey and those we’ve empowered. They want to share their pains and gains with the people out there and also to encourage other widows not to lose hope. Another project is going to be a full movie titled Eclipse ‘Osan Doru’. This storyline is based on two particular widows and it will be different from the normal movies on widows we’ve watched so far.

I have an empowerment programme coming up

The 7th edition of Giving Is Fun Initiative is coming up this month, November 25th at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, at 10a.m. prompt. The actors coming on board as hosts are Iyabo Ojo, Toyin Abraham, Bimbo Oshin, Empress Njamah, Ibironke Ojo Anthony, Fausat Balogun, Labi Olayori, Tayo Amokeade, popularly known as Ijebu, Femi Adebayo and Funsho Adeolu. We are supporting 500 widows and empowering 40 with items like Grinders, Camp Gas with pots, Cash Relief and Sewing Machine. There will be dancing competition, Gele competition and a lot to eat and drink.

What inspired my 40th sexy photos I only wanted to make myself feel younger and show the world that I am still sexy despite my age. I keep my body in shape by not stressing myself, Simple! I relax by watching movies. I hang out and gist with friends then I surf the net.
