To further deepen the interest of students in Mathematics, an international educational services firm, Testmaster Education Ltd, has introduced a national mathematics TV quiz show, tagged ‘Master of Math’.

The firm’s Chief Operations Officer and co-founder, Ofir Zukovsky, said the show is an annual national Mathematics quiz that provides Nigerian Senior Secondary 2 students opportunity to compete on live TV against and alongside their peers.

Zukovsky, who spoke recently at the firm’s office in Lagos, said there are three stages of the competition: state, regional and national. He explained that the winner of the quiz shall get N200,000 and a trophy, while the first and second runners up shall receive N150,000 and N100,000 respectively.

The top three students from each state at stage one and maths teachers of all the winning students at state and national level, will also receive cash prizes. In addition, expenses like transportation, accommodation and feeding will be paid for by the organisers.

Additionally, on February 19, 2019, all registered school maths teachers will participate in a free national mathematics teacher one day workshop designed around issues in mathematics teaching, strategies and innovation. The online registration scratch card can be obtained from any state representative and Nigerian Post Office. Students can also log on to the organisation’s website.

Zukovsky said: “It is our commitment to help students and teachers be the best they can”, says Mr. Zukovsky, “hence we created Testmaster to corroborate teachers’ efforts in preparing students for academic success, enhance students’ performance in SSCE and UTME exams and ensure that every student in Nigeria maximizes his or her true potential.
