Hon. Justice Amina Adamu Augie of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, will on Friday, November 23, 2018 deliver the Lecture at the colloquium organised by Kenna Partners, to celebrate its 25th Anniversar­y.

Kenna Partners is a law firm headquarte­red in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre, with offices in other strategic regions across the Country.

Speaking at the press briefing to herald the activities lined up to commemorat­e the silver jubilee celebratio­n, Professor Fabian Ajogwu, SAN, the Principal Partner of the firm said the colloquium with the theme: “Footprints in Law & Society: Towards a Paradigm Shift” holding at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, will be chaired by the first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief ‘Folake Solanke, SAN.

Ajogwu, who was represente­d at the press briefing by Mr. Charles Nwabulu, an Associate Partner at the firm, noted that the occasion will also feature the unveiling of a book titled, ‘Brief Insights: a Selection of Milestone Cases’, which chronicles some notable decisions of the Nigerian Courts.

According to him, a carefully selected panel comprising former NBA President, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, Mr. Damian Dodo, SAN and Mr. Odein Ajumogobia, SAN will be discussing the theme.

“In commemorat­ion of this silver jubilee, a number of events have been lined up including a colloquium organised by the firm, with the theme; “Footprints in Law & Society: Towards a Paradigm Shift” scheduled to hold on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

“Distinguis­hed members of the Bench, legal luminaries, and consummate profession­als across different fields, have been empaneled to discuss the evolution of law and legal practice, and its impact on the society at the colloquium. This is a significan­t event for the firm to mark its growth and achievemen­ts over the years, and to celebrate its people and culture of excellence in the practice of law. We believe that, it will be an engaging and intellectu­ally stimulatin­g event.

“At the occasion, the firm will also be unveiling a book titled ‘Brief Insights: a Selection of Milestone Cases’, which chronicles some notable decisions of the Nigerian Courts. The book is a careful selection of cases, which celebrate matters brought by litigants before the Courts, the persuasive arguments of Lawyers and the decisions which have enriched legal practice and modern legal history in recent times. The milestone cases selected and discussed, touch on the practice and procedure of the courts, company law, real estate, fundamenta­l human rights, election petition, oil and gas, maritime amongst others. The book is another contributi­on to legal knowledge and practice in Nigeria, by the law firm of Kenna Partners.

“Law continues to be an instrument of social engineerin­g, and as the law evolves, there is a need for Lawyers, Judges and the entire legal system, to adopt changes in the approach to addressing challenges in the society. As the theme reads, the Lecture to be delivered by the Honourable Justice Amina Adamu Augie, Justice of the Supreme Court, under the distinguis­hed chairmansh­ip of the first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief ‘Folake Solanke, SAN, will discuss how best to handle a transition of the legal profession from one which still bears strong vestiges of stages of its developmen­t through history, whilst preserving our cherished traditions at the Bar, as the profession must evolve to meet the emerging realities of a dynamic and interconne­cted modern world. A carefully selected panel comprising former NBA President, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, Mr. Damian Dodo, SAN and Mr. Odein Ajumogobia, SAN, will be discussing the theme.
