Telecoms Giant Lights Up Mainland… All Hail the New Globacom’s Wondrous Edifice

Lagosians make ceaseless pilgrimage to the place

The beautiful edifice with its commanding presence would occasion a lot of double takes while a cursory stroll into its bowels would leave so much to see and salivate about especially in the main hall with the ceiling fresco. It has become a quasi tourist site.

Yes, nobody forgets the new Globacom’s wondrous edifice in a hurry. Behind the gates of the impressive building, luxury saunters in a colourful garb. You could be forgiven for mistaking it for the fabled Atlantis. The panes of quaint decor, embroidered fabric and devices, ornaments the insides like the damasked wings of the pyramid.

Little wonder, recurrent callers at the new place have been heard to marvel and keel over in humility, in deference to its lavish treats.

Outside, the building is garlanded with arcs and flowers, and bunches of knot-grass. Both nocturnal and diurnal, the edifice attracts an excited throng of customers who regularly use it as a backdrop for photographs. Those who have been there say its size and splendour would leave anyone breathless and bewildered.

Curiously, however, they might have watched the sun pull its ocean covers over itself a hundred times and heard the stars read countless bedtime stories to the moon but nothing will ever be as beautiful to the Nigerian public, as witnessing telecoms giant, Globacom’s unveiling of its new office on Allen Avenue, Ikeja.

On that day, the Nigerian telecommunication giant, brought its star power to the fore, by parading top Nigerian celebrities at the opening of its new Gloworld branch, penultimate Saturday.

The new edifice is arguably the most beautiful structure to house a corporate organization in Mainland Lagos. The interior and the exterior designs is what everybody is talking right now. The various innovative ideas introduced into the telecommunications sector by Nigeria’s fully integrated telecommunications provider, Globacom, have earned it the leadership of the country’s information and communications industry.

This was stated on Saturday by the Commissioner for Science and Technology in Lagos State, Mr. Hakeem Fahm, when he formally commissioned a state-of-theart customer service and sales outlet called GloWorld, on Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos.

Mr. Fahm, a United States-trained Information and Communication Technology expert, said Globacom’s leadership is highly recognised not only in Nigeria, but across the African continent and indeed the entire world.

The Lagos State commissioner said innovative ideas were necessary as the world increasingly evolved into an internet-driven economy, stressing that telecom operators particularly needed to take the front seat as the facilitator of the process.

He said the latest Gloworld on Allen Avenue was another bold idea that would literally enhance the value of the high-brow neighbourhood because of its architectural novelty and the solutions it affords the residents of the area.

“It is a world-class facility, equipped with cutting-edge technology to give excellent customer experience. I just registered a SIM. It was so seamless and fast. Everything took only a couple of minutes,” he said. The Globacom top management team was led by the company’s Group Executive Director, Mrs. Bella Disu, who took the guests on a tour of the exquisitely designed sales outlet that promises customers telecommunications lifestyle experiences.

Welcoming guests to the occasion, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Globacom, Mr. Michael Toluhi, stated that the Allen Gloworld shop is the first in a new generation of exquisitely designed contact centres, tailor-made for Glo’s customers whom the company hold in very high esteem.

He described the new shop as an archetypal customer service and sales shop designed to offer Globacom’s products and services to subscribers in a well-equipped and highly conducive ambience, adding that “this will soon be replicated in major markets, including Abuja, Ibadan, Benin, Victoria Island among others across the country.”

Mr. Toluhi said that “Our desire to always avail our customers the best services is why we were the first to deploy the 4G LTE service nationwide to facilitate business, personal and social life through fast and reliable internet.”

The event was also attended by other stakeholders, such as high profile corporate customers and dealers, including Chief Ademola Adenuga and the Publisher of Ovation International, Otunba Dele Momodu.

The launch also attracted officials of multinational companies, the crème-de-la-crème of Nigeria’s entertainment industry, including Tu Face Idibia, Odunlade Adekola and Juliet Ibrahim.

The event excited residents of the neighbourhood as a massive crowd gathered within the premises to have a feel of the sales outlet and catch a glimpse of the dignitaries and celebrities at the ceremony.

Globacom said the Gloworld outlet is the first in a series of avant-garde sales and customer care outlets the company plans to roll out in strategic locations across the country.
