Buhari vs Atiku – The Duke’s Position
I have received a lot of interests from wellmeaning Nigerians on my position concerning these two gladiators. People have been calling, sending text messages wanting to know where my interest lies. You see, as a major moulder of public opinion who trended the whole of last week on social media – just Google me, I am a man of tremendous influence o. I have to be very careful how I position myself in public on these matters because any position I take simply will lead to disastrous consequences on the other side. Much as I have been advised to take a statesmanlike position on these things, it is really very difficult to do that. Especially when you see how the country is going. Things are tough o. Unemployment is rising, I hear eight million people have lost their jobs and I dey among, infrastructural decay, heath in a shambles and a total sense of hopelessness envelop everywhere. So how would a hotblooded Nigerian male like myself now rise above reality and not take a position? It is very hard o. When I look at both sides what do I see Nothing o. On the Buhari side, he comes at you with a lack of commitment, a vacuous lack of understanding of the issues and capacity to even tackle them. He now worsens it by surrounding himself with selfcentered oligarchs who move around with a wonderful sense of entitlement. I just tire. Will things be better in another Buhari second term? I doubt. For Atiku, it is just the same sense of hopelessness leading to the question how did we get here as a nation? How did we drive ourselves into this cul-de-sac where out of over 180 million people we are left with these two as choices? Atiku represents a rightist arm of the devilish cabal that has held us ransom since independence while Buhari represents the leftist and conservative arm of the same cabal. We are effectively between the devil and the deep blue sea and like the biblical children of Israel we are dividing ourselves between these two, shouting ourselves hoarse in support of either of the two divides not knowing that any which way we go, na the same result – Golgotha. So will I vote? Which side will I choose? The answer my friends, is floating in the sky. I will let you guys know my decision in no time but for now, allow me the luxury of pain. Let me wallow in tears and sadness for failed opportunities, for inept leadership, for mumu followership, for a dearth in vision and for a lost country. This is Nigeria. Thank you.
