Not Yet Uhuru for Igbinedion’s Granddaughter’s Hubby

-

When Prince Osmond Eweka, husband to Imade, Sir Gabriel Igbinedion’s granddaughter, was arrested in July this year in New York, the families were not only troubled but also sad.

However, the family rose stoutly in his defence, saying it was a case of mistaken identity and that he was innocent of all the charges against him.

They were said to have engaged the services of a fire brand lawyer who swung into action immediately. He was said to have deployed his legal gymnastics to ensure the release of Eweka. But it later turned out to be another case of joy that has a slender body. In other words, it was a temporary relief.

Society Watch gathered that it is not yet Uhuru for the handsome dude and his accomplice.

A source hinted that the matter that was adjourned was again called for hearing a few days ago in New York, where he appeared in dock alongside his accomplice in the alleged crime.

It will be recalled that Eweka was alleged to have been involved in a job scam.

The young man allegedly duped New York job seekers several thousands of Dollars for non-existent employment.

The Benin Prince, alongside his friend, Kamel McKay, allegedly created bogus employment agency firms and used Indeed.com to find their victims.

They were said to have collected between $300 and $700, promising the victims high-paying jobs in New York.

However, many of the job seekers were reportedly turned away because the employers did not know anything about it.

“They have allegedly pocketed $54,000 and never provided a single job to their victims,’’ a source said.

It was also disclosed that Eweka’s first appearance in court was in July, where he pleaded not guilty to charges of larceny and scheme to defraud.

Some of the jobs Eweka and McKay promised their victims were for hotel housekeeping and front desk receptionists.

According to court documents, Eweka and McKay used an office space in the Empire State Building and another building on Fifth Avenue to run two bogus employment agency firms, Stamford Consulting Firm and Howard Consulting Group.

A source revealed that their modus operandi is using fake names. While Eweka allegedly presented himself to unsuspecting victims as Sean Jackson, McKay posed as Tyrone Hayes.

Eweka and the daughter of the Esama of Benin Kingdom got married in 2016 in an elaborate wedding that attracted top personalities from across the world.

Imade, 26, a trained lawyer from the South African University is also a popular female rap artiste with the sobriquet Spaydez.
