Perilous Slide: Why Young Ladies Are Killing Themselves for Big Bum

-

Among the in-crowd now, the craze for the big bum and flat tummy is the fad. Everybody wants a jaw-dropping, attentioncommanding derriere nay shape but not everybody can afford the services of a certified surgeon thus necessitating recourse to the cheap ones who are not entirely qualified for such. While there are skilled doctors trained for the high-risk cosmetic surgeries, quack doctors have also infiltrated the practice, leaving casualties in their wake.

The recent being a Lagos-based cosmetic surgeon identified as Dr Anu who is currently on the run after she carried out cosmetic surgery on a client, resulting in her death. Anu is the owner of Med Contour which prides itself as body contour and cosmetic surgery specialists. Ordinarily, Dr Anu usually invites foreign doctors to help her out with the surgeries.

However, when a patient named Nne approached her for a Brazilian Bum Lift, liposuction and fat transfer on December 31, 2018, the doctor decided to personally carry out the procedure. It would end up being a tragic decision.

Accompanied to the hospital by her younger sister, Nne reportedly slipped into a coma but the doctor did not raise any alarm. It took Nne’s sister who was anxious that the procedure had dragged on for too long to find out what happened as Dr Anu battled to revive her. After raising the alarm, the lifeless Nne was taken to a hospital in Lekki before being moved to LUTH where she died eventually on Sunday, 3rd February.

According to doctors, fat had entered her lungs causing a blockage and subsequent complications. On hearing of her patient’s death, Dr Anu disappeared into thin air and has still not been seen. Interestingly, Nne is not the only one to have died in the process of reshaping their body; many young ladies have passed on while many are bearing lifelong impairments.

Yet, this would not serve as a deterrent to those wannabes who are eager to do body surgery.
