Attacks of Staff Worry FAAN

The Regional Manager, SouthWest Airports, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria( FA AN ), Mrs. Victoria Shin-A ba, has fr owned at the continued harassment of its staff by uniform and escort official sat the Lag os Airport. Shin a ba, in an interview with journalists in Lag os, said the incessant attacks on FA AN Security officials, AV SEC, and other staff by security operative s who accompany VIPs for trying to stop in discriminate parking of their vehicles i nu n authorised areas at the airport was a cause for concern. She expressed worry over the flag rant abuse of power by uniform men and escort vehicles personnel especially those who come to the airport with 12 or more vehicles in the convoy.The Airport Manager, explained that the uncooperative attitude of the public especially VIPs had remained the greatest challenge for the management of the airport. According to her, security Committee earlier set up was disbanded because it did not achieve its purpose as most of the members in the committee was not ready to discipline other officials. Shin-Aba explained that Aviation Security Personnel (AVSEC) was subjected to embarrassment by gun carrying uniform men at the airport. On ensuring at out-free environment, the airport manager disclosed that at ask force was already combing the airport environment on daily basis to get rid of hawkers and bike operators, popular ly known as Ok ada Riders. She said some motorcycles have been confiscated by the taskforce while effort was being made with the Lagos government to move any mentally unstable person apprehended to them for rehabilitation.
