Edo CPVows to Crush ‘#RevolutionNow’ Protest
Adibe Emenyonu Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Danmallam Abubakar, has vowed to crush any attempt by any persons or group to hold the scheduled revolution rally, describing the #Revolutionnow protest as an invitation to anarchy.
He said what Omoyele Sowore, leader of group, could not get through the ballot box, he wants to achieve it through the back door.
Speaking to journalists in his office yesterday, Abubakar said the police would use maximum force to resist anyone who wants to tamper with the reigning peace in the state, pointing out that some persons were not happy that the country is overcoming security challenges the way it overcame economy recession.
According to him, “Do they know the meaning of revolution? Do they think that they can remove any democratically elected government? The man was a presidential candidate; what he couldn’t get through the ballot box, he wants to get it through the back door.
“For somebody to say he is going to hold revolution in this country, we cannot fold our hands and allow that to happen because it is an invitation to anarchy. It is a treasonable offence.
“They are trying to tamper with the relative peace we are enjoying in Nigeria. Nigeria is trying to come out of security challenges and some people are not happy. The government has made concerted effort to checkmate security challenges, and this has made them unhappy.
“They are coming up with another criminal approach to cause confusion and chaos in the country. We will not allow body or group of people to tamper with the peace in the state. Any attempt by anybody to tamper with the peace in the state will be resisted with maximum force.”
