Oshiomhole and Obaseki – Better Sit Up
Well you see when I first heard about this quarrel, I ignored it. Wetin concern me? If Oshiomole decided to decimate his protégé for whatever reason, why would I be bothered? Was I there when they signed whatever pact that is causing this problem? The one I went to support in Lagos, didn’t we fail woefully? Not even one small ministerial appointment did they give us. So my people Uyo far from Benin so why would I go and put mouth? Na until I had a long talk with my brother Aiboni, a big Bini man that the chickens came home to roost for me. He said the state has been divided into an unequal two and this was affecting everything including my coming Play EMOTAN. Kai, fear catch me o immediately he mentioned my Play. He said that the technocrats are supporting Obaseki while the rest of the state are supporting Oshiomhole and this may be the reason there is a stalemate at the House of Assembly. He said he is PDP and as such is indifferent but that since APC was the ruling party every other critical stakeholder group in the state has taken sides. Fear start to catch me o. Look at small poor boy like me looking to run into turbulence over an egocentric push for power by people that should know better. Just as I was about to go to toilet, I saw a news report that Obaseki had commenced reconciliation by visiting Oshiomhole and his mother on the back of the Sallah celebrations. I hope they gave him enough Sallah meat to eat o. Then I saw a report credited to Oshiomhole that he did not have any issues with Obaseki and that they keep in touch regularly and that those who are causing this rift are doing this in their own interest. Well, let me just say one thing here to both of them and they better listen very carefully: see, me I don’t take crap and do not like indiscipline. So both of you lock yourselves in a room and discuss very carefully and succinctly your issues and do not come out until you have found a solution that would be the best for the people of Edo State. After all you both have baldhead, start from there as a basis for negotiation. We must find peace in Edo State. The two of you cannot continue to be bickering like school boys who have lost their pocket money. But seriously, I think Obaseki has done creditably well in Edo especially in education, culture and security amongst others. I also think that Oshiomhole laid the foundation for this success and as such the partnership should continue for the betterment of the people. So guys, let’s leave the ego out of it and begin to think of the people of Edo State and not who has the biggest head. Abeg, I cannot shout. Na wa.
