THISDAY

MR. PRESIDENT – I SUPPORT THIS ONE

-

We may not understand the complex economic theories that they throw at us daily in the chambers but this one we understand very well. Why spend so much on importation of food that we have more than enough capacity to produce locally? This one, I will not keep quiet and nobody can confuse me. I remain the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces and Nigerians voted for me to protect them and this is what I will do. No more importation of food and anybody who tries it on my watch will not even get to India for treatment I swear. Yes o even the Duke of Shomolu supports this and would dispatch a strong letter of appreciation to my brother Chief Buhari. Indiscipline is the root of all of these. People are flying to Italy to drink Ice cream and come back. I even have friends who say they fly to England for grocery shopping, another one says that she imports her sanitary towels because local ones itch her. Coming from someone whose mother and grandmother used paw paw leaves and did not itch. Mbok, we can save a lot of scarce dollars if this policy is better implemented. You see the pressure on the Naira is as a result of the foreign portfolio investors who cashed out, the stress oil marketers are facing in selling off our crude on the back of US shale oil and the irresponsible manner we outflow dollar for flimsy things like buying fashion and others. Nigeria is blessed with some of the most fertile lands in the world but laziness is making us depend on foreign substitutes while destroying the economy in the process. Mbok, Mr. Buhari let’s go with this one, I am solidly behind you. I just hope this is will not lead to another era of essential commodity o. Me I no dey for that one o.
