Oba of Benin, Ooni of Ife Bag Travel Award

The organiser of Akwaaba African Travel Market, Mr Ikechi Uko, has honour ed the O ba of Benin, Om oN’ Ob aN’ E do U ku Akpolokpol­o,E wu are II with the Africa Travel 100 Global Personalit­ies Award in recognitio­n of his cultural and historical upstanding. The award was presented to hi ma this palace during the just concluded National Festival of Arts and Culture( NA FEST) in Benin City, E do State. O ba E wu are II who is the custodian of all Benin Heritage, the Benin Mo at and Igue Festival becomes the third monarch to win the award after the Oo ni of I fe O ba Ad eye ye E nita nO gun wu si and the O ba of Bad ag ry. The presentati­on was done with the support of the Director General of National Council for Art and Culture (NCAC), Otunba Segun Runsewe. The Africa Travel 100 Awards is part of the Annual Africa Travel Awards that is now in her 18 th year. It has recognised over the years leaders, industry practition­ers, and the government officials who have promoted tourism and improved travel using unique platforms and new informatio­n in Africa. In 2017 it hosted the Top 100 Travel awards for Women in Tourism and in 2018 the Top 100 African Tour Operators. The awards were presented to winners at the 15 th A kw a ab a African Travel Market that was held at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos on the 23rd of September. Other notable winners of the award were formerTour­ism Minister of Seychelles, Alain St. An ge, Chief Mike A mach ree, Oscar Ib ru, Mayor of Addis Ababa and JamaicanTo­urism Minister, Edmund Barlett.
