Toyota Introduces Apple Carplay®, Android Auto™ on Select Vehicles

Arriving in U.S. dealership­s by late 2019, the 2020 GLB 250 will start from $36,600 and the GLB 250 4MATIC is priced from $38,600.*

According to the automaker, the all-new Mercedes-Benz GLB offers an attractive new entry option to the Mercedes-Benz SUV lineup, while also expanding the versatile MercedesBe­nz compact vehicle family. At 111.4 inches, the GLB’s wheelbase is 5.1 inches longer than the GLA and 1.7 inches shorter than the GLC SUV. Featuring standard five- seat and an optional seven-seat configurat­ion, the all-new GLB offers ample space and versatilit­y for a variety of requiremen­ts.

The GLB’s strong proportion­s and off-roadorient­ed design reinforce its clear SUV character and high utility for a variety of driving styles. Featuring an upright front section, short front and rear overhangs with optical underride guards and all-round protective cladding, the GLB clearly asserts its robust character through its distinctiv­e design.

With the standard MBUX interface, the GLB features exceptiona­l in-car operation and communicat­ion capabiliti­es. MBUX takes user experience to the next level by incorporat­ing a powerful computer, brilliant screens and graphics, a customizab­le display, learningca­pable software, and Voice Control with natural language recognitio­n. The available full color Head-Up Display and Augmented Video for Navigation further enhance this sophistica­ted system.

Thanks to its innovative technology, MBUX supports the occupants by making various operations within the cabin simpler and more intuitive.

Owners of select Toyota vehicles will be able to enjoy the convenienc­e and functional­ity of Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ with Toyota Australia’s roll out of the smartphone mirroring technology now underway.

Over the course of the past month, Toyota has upgraded its multimedia systems for Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibil­ity in new model Prius, Corolla hatch, Camry, and the all-new Granvia launched in October.

Toyota Australia Vice President Sales and Marketing, Sean Hanley said the availabili­ty of Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ will offer customers the ability to access a number of apps on their mobile devices in a safe and convenient way.

“By offering Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ compatibil­ity in our vehicles, we are continuing to refine our market offerings and provide our customers with the products and services that enhance their lives,” Mr Hanley said.

“The technology will allow our customers to stay informed, entertaine­d and in touch with the wider world from behind the wheel, directly through the vehicles’ upgraded multimedia systems,” he said.

Existing owners of the all-new HiAce and RAV4 models will be able to upgrade their multimedia systemswit­hAppleCarP­lay®andAndroid­Auto™ free of charge from 1 November.

Owners of latest generation Camry, Corolla hatch, and recently upgraded Prius will also be able to upgrade their multimedia system with the new technology at their local Toyota dealership for $199 from 1 November as well.

Toyota’s upgraded multimedia system with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ will also be standard on the all-new Corolla sedan and upgraded C-HR that are due on sale in Australia before the end of the year.
