24 HOURS... 24 HOURS... Araraume: I went to Tribunal to Seek Justice, Not Vendetta

- Adedayo Akinwale

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the 2019 elections, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, has said he pursued his case to the Supreme Court to ensure that justice was served and not to seek vendetta.

Araraume, who had since declared his support for Governor Hope Uzodinma-led administration, explained that he has come to right the wrongs foisted on the state.

Araraume, while briefing critical stakeholders at his campaign headquarters in Owerri, Imo State capital at the weekend, said going by all the provisions of the constitution, the declaration of Emeka Ihedioha could not have stood and that it would have been wrong. He added that he would never have forgiven himself if nothing was done to correct the anomaly.

He equally debunked the rumour making round that he planned to defect from APGA, but called on his teeming followers to support Uzodinma, noting that the governor had come to make the difference.

“Imo State has suffered enough. But I assure Imolites that Governor Uzodinma has come to ensure that the dividends of democracy is distributed to all parts of the state. There is so much work for him to do and

I know he will not fail Imo.

“Ihedioha did not win the governorship election. He did not meet the constitutional requirements to be declared winner and again the figures churned out from three local government areas of Mbaise and the tampering of figures from other areas made his claim to the seat a nullity.

“I went to the tribunal to seek justice, but at the lower and Appeal tribunals, what I got was not judgement. Justice was not served, but the Supreme Court has done the needful,” he said.

Araraume insisted that what happened was a misnomer, but added that they had been vindicated by the Supreme Court that Ihedioha did not win the election.
