erative in helping me adapt quickly to life in this new environment.”

He added: “There are quality players in this team and my immediate focus is to prove my worth to Batunmi, not just with individual performance, but as a team.

“We hope to go far in the Europa League as well as compete for the Georgian league title.”

Dinamo Batumi continue their preparation for the new season with a friendly against Olimpik Donetsk on Thursday.

Dinamo Batumi finished second in the Georgian top-flight last term and will participate in the Uefa Europa League qualifiers next season.

Oboabona’s last outing for the threetime African champions was in 2016 and he has expressed his desire to return to Gernot Rohr’s squad as they aim to qualify for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon and the 2022 World Cup.

“I get goosebumps every time I watch my goal for the Super Eagles against Namibia. Can’t wait to wear the green and white jersey again,” he tweeted.

Oboabona was born in Ondo State, Nigeria and began his professional career with local club Sunshine Stars FC. In August 2013, the BBC claimed there was speculation linking him with a move to English side Arsenal, a claim denied by both Oboabona and Sunshine Stars chairman Mike Odoko.

Later that month, he signed a four-year contract with Turkish club Çaykur Rizespor, a transfer he described the transfer as a “dream move.” In September 2018, Oboabona joined HNK Gorica in the Croatian First Football League.

Oboabona made his international debut for Nigeria in 2012, and has appeared in FIFA World Cup qualifying matches. He was called up to Nigeria’s 23-man squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

He was selected for Nigeria’s squad at the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and was named in the provisional squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Oboabona was selected by Nigeria for their 35-man provisional squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
