TUNDE HASSAN ODUKALE – WELCOME ON BOARD
It is Oye that I have met. Oye until very recently was the Managing Director of fast growing Leadway Assurance. My people, when I say ‘I have met’ don’t go and be thinking that we are drinking pals o. This met, na one Sunday morning for upscale Orchid bistro in Ikeja GRA where I had gone for breakfast just as I collect salary. There was seated across me -Oye. I admire him especially with what he had done with the family business. The way working with his team he has built such a huge player in the insurance industry that has spread its tentacles to other sectors. So I moved in and greeted him and he graciously responded and we had a five-minute chat on the economy and his interest in the Arts. Na him be the ‘meet’ wey I dey talk o. Anyways, I had always heard about Tunde in the markets. I heard he was sound and easily approachable and this gave the market confidence that there was a sweet succession plan in the system. So this week, when I went into their Iponri office for a meeting and heard that Tunde was now the new helmsman, I was kinda happy. They also mentioned to me that ‘Tunde says he knows you’. I say me? They say yes,’ that he had mentioned that he knew me as that person wey dey do play. Kai, so I got his numbers to call and say hi. They say he was in a Board meeting and may not pick, but na lie, he picked and said, Edgar can I call you back by 4pm. I happy o. The man know me true true. But then again, when a Nigerian CEO says let me call you back, Jesus for don come back marry and get grandchildren you never see the call. But at exactly 4pm, the Bobo call me o. I shock. Anyways, this is me sending my congratulatory message to him and praying for a successful tenure at Leadway welldone bro.
