NACJ Integrity Awards Gathering Momentum

he battle for this year’s Nigerian Associatio­n of Christian Journalist­s (NACJ) Integrity Awards is gathering momentum. Top on the list is the categories for Integrity Governor of the Year, The Most Active Governor of the Year and The Most Outstandin­g Governor of the Year. According to a statement by the Secretary General of NACJ, Charles Okhai, the governors nominated for these three top awards include David Umahi (Ebonyi), Oluseyi Makinde (Oyo), Nyeson Wike (Rivers), Willie Obiano (Anambra), Abdullahi

Ganduje (Kano) and Darius Ishaku (Taraba).

The awards, which come in various categories, cover all areas of human endeavors such as politics, education, sports, banking and finance, entertainm­ent, judiciary, public service and business. Nominees for these other categories include Senator Victor Udoma Egba; Senator Ade Fadaunsi; President/Group CEO, Transcorp PLC, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo; educationi­sts and ICT expert, Chief I B Okafor; former Director General, NIMASA, Dakuku Peterside; Assistant Comptrolle­r General of Customs, Wale Adeniyi; Speaker, Cross Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Eteng William; the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu; Hon Femi Onanuga and Dr. Hillard Etta. All the candidates were nominated strictly based on their sense of integrity.

Okhai said: “The NACJ Awards are designed to promote the spirit of integrity amongst Nigerians, especially the leaders. This is predicated on the fact that integrity is the direct opposite of corruption, and no nation can attain meaningful developmen­t without leaders who are integrityc­onscious.

“The theme of this year’s lecture/awards is Integrity is Everything, while the keynote tagged, integrity, key Factor for Building a Virile Nation, will be delivered by Chief Fani Femi-Kayode, former Minister of Aviation, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, ABUJA, on April 23.”
