COVID-19: Foundation Distribute­s Palliative­s to Indigents in Ezinihitte Mbaise

In a bid to cushion the effect of COVID-19 pandemic on his people, Chief Bright Oguamanam Nwanne, a one time Senator,

under the auspices of Senator Bright Nwanne Foundation has distribute­d palliative in form of food items worth millions of naira and cash donations to indigents and youths of Onicha Amairi in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government of Imo State.

He said this was in a bid to ensure his people are not left to die of hunger and the virus,

The Coordinato­r of the Central Planning Committee, Mr. Celestine Ndubuisi Ihuoma told journalist­s who monitored the distributi­on that the former Senator that represente­d Owerri Zone, deemed it necessary to make the distributi­on of palliative to the real vulnerable people in the four autonomous communitie­s of Onicha Amairi.

He further revealed that the committee did the needful by structurin­g channels in which the items got to the targeted people as instructed by the Senator, as the distributi­ons were taken to the respective 10 villages to maintain social distancing measures in sharing the items.

According to him, the beneficiar­ies were carefully selected, adding that women, men and the youths were happy to received the package made up over 1000 bags of five kg rice, facial mask and cash.

Also speaking, the President General of Ubonukam community, Chief George Chibugwu described the action of Senator Nwanne as splendid, adding "we are very grateful to him because this is not his first time of helping the people of his community".

Meanwhile, the beneficiar­ies in their separate speeches thanked God for using Senator Bright Nwanne to bless his people, who in his magnanimou­s nature is known to remember them in this trying period.

They maintained that the Senator had made them proud by the donation to the four autonomous communitie­s, adding that he also empowered 120 youths in the area.

The villages, which include Eziama, Umuevu, Umuhu, Umuaghara, Umuekwene, Ubonukam, Umuoma, Umuelegwa, Umuawada, Omu-ukwu and their respective Aladinma heads received the pallaitive­s and it was immediatel­y shared to the indigents.
