LOCAL MANUFACTUR­ING: TICKTOS PARTNERS SPANISH FIRM ON PPES

Tic kt os Nigeria Limited, has partnered a Spanish firm, Marina Textil, on supplying and trading of textiles and other clothing materials towards the manufactur­ing of Personal Protective Equipment( PP Es) for the Nigerian oil and gas industry.

Incorporat­ed in 1994 to carry out constructi­on of civil, road ways, buildings, mechanical and electrical engineerin­g works, Tick to sh as total capability in the design, procuremen­t, and delivery of major projects across a full spectrum of global markets.

Under the leadership of Kayo de Ad eosun,t he Managing Director, the company has registered significan­t progress across the past five years. Adeosun provides superb leadership to a diverse set of profession­als including - engineers, project managers, surveyors, accountant­s, and safety officers who work with him on constructi­on projects to deliver projects to specificat­ions to respective clients.

“The primary purpose of this partnershi­p is: To assemble a manufactur­ing company in the arena of textile producing products for use in the work wear creation and supply along with building capacity for Nigeria’s content developmen­t for job opportunit­ies and economic value,” the partnershi­p document stated.

Marina Textil designs, manufactur­es, and commercial­ises protective technical fabric used to produce PP Es.

One unique thing about Marina Textil, which manufactur­es a wide range of fabric types, is that it never applies finishing treatments, as these treatments lose their properties with use and washing.

The firm’ s primary objective is to guarantee protection against risks such as radiant heat, molten metal splashes, electric arc, electrosta­tic charges, among others throughout the useful life of the garment.

In December 2016, the Nigerian Content Developmen­t and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), announced for the first time its plans to ban the importatio­n of PPEs for oil and gas industry operators. Eventually, this was carried out by the Board in 2022.

The partnershi­p known as Ticktos Marina Nigeria Limited will create thousands of jobs, generates taxes and revenue for the government, when it comes on stream. Apart from the foreign exchange the assemblage of Ticktos Marina Nigeria Limited will save for the country, in terms of importatio­n, linkage industries such as constructi­on and mining sectors will also benefit from it. Ticktos is one of the beneficiar­ies of the NCDMB’s Project 100. Project 100 is an initiative of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources in partnershi­p with the N CD MB to look holistic ally at 100 wholly indigenous oil and gas companies and nurture them to the next level.

This, the board, believes will enhance their capacities, support them financiall­y through the Nigerian Content Interventi­on Fund (NCIF) and help them find opportunit­ies in the industry, in collaborat­ion with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited and its subsidiary, NAP I MS( now NU I MS ). Benefits that accrue to Project 100 companies include bespoke developmen­t plans to improve critical business capabiliti­es and access to market opportunit­ies with oil and gas operators on industry projects.

It also provides them identified access to critical industry and operationa­l insights, informatio­n and data and participat­ion in local oil and gas opportunit­y fair sand strategic events and advocacy for policy recommenda­tions that would unlock some of the challenges identified by the beneficiar­ies.

Other opportunit­ies include technical and business performanc­e improvemen­t capacity programmes, collaborat­ion with critical industry stakeholde­rs for participat­ion in relevant global oil and gas events, R& D collaborat­ion, opportunit­y to benefit from the $50 m Nigerian Content R& D Fund and opportunit­y to access the about $500 mN CI Fund, particular­ly the $30 million Working Capital Product, for qualified organisati­ons.
