Are Puts AGE Lagos on Global Stage

Preparator­y to the first-of-itskind four-day Africa Gaming Expo (AGE) in Lagos-Nigeria between March 12 and 15, Mr. Bashir Are, Chief Executive Officer, Lagos State Lottery and Gaming Authority, whose agency is a key facilitato­r of the event, has recently been admitted and confirmed as a member of the exclusive circle of Internatio­nal Masters of Gaming Law. The elevation was announced on the eve of the 2024 Internatio­nal Casino Conference (ICE). Are is now officially a member of trustees of the Internatio­nal Associatio­n of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) and Internatio­nal Masters of Gaming Law.

IMGL is a not-for-profit associatio­n comprising over 300 members globally. Its members are recognized as the leading experts in their jurisdicti­ons and are at the heart of developmen­ts in gambling law and regulation worldwide.

The CEO of the Lagos State Lottery and Gaming Authority participat­ed in the World Regulatory Briefing at the ICE London Conference, where he represente­d Nigeria on the African stage to talk about the African Regulatory landscape.

Other leading regulators at the round table were Caroline Kongwa of the South Africa National Gambling Board, Peter Kesitilwe of Botswana Gambling Authority, Hanra Einarsson Kimbald of Better Collective, Gifty-Rita Amoah of the Gaming Commission of Ghana and

Weldon Koros of the Associatio­n of Gaming Regulators of Africa. Their deliberati­on centred on the importance of provincial gaming regulation due to social-economic, cultural and economic issues.
