Aman, Lukman Alade, has been arraigned before the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court for raping an 18-year-old girl. Alade is standing trial on a twocount charge of rape and sexual assault by penetration.

DSP Morayo Ogunsokan, the investigative police officer, told the court how Alade allegedly made incisions on the girl’s private parts.

Ogunsokan told Justice Rahman Oshodi while being led in evidence by the state counsel, Ms Bukola Okeowo, that she received a report of alleged rape on September 12, 2022 at about 4:30 p.m. from the teenager.

According to the cop, the alleged victim said the defendant allegedly raped her on September 11, 2022, about 4:40 p.m. after she rejected his advances.

“The survivor told me that she was on her way to collect her phone when she was accosted by the defendant, and he made sexual advances towards her, but she rebuffed him. She said she later found herself in the room of the defendant with her pants removed, her pubic hair shaved, and the defendant had put incisions on her vagina and legs,” the officer told the court.

The teenager added that the defendant put a ring on his finger, inserted it into her vagina and raped her, according to the IPO’s testimony.

“She said it was when her phone rang that she became conscious of what was going on, and she asked the defendant what she was doing in his house,” said Ogunsokan.

In her testimony, the policewoman told the court that Alade gave the teenager the shaved pubic hair upon her request. Afterwards, the girl told her parents about the incident.

Subsequently, Alade was arrested by the police after being prompted by a vigilance group in the area.

The IPO told the court that the defendant confessed to removing the girl’s pants, shaving her pubic hair and putting incisions on her vagina and legs.

“Based on what was reported and what the defendant said, he accepted shaving the pubic hair, giving her incisions, and the lady said he slept with her. I am not a medical practitioner, that was why I sent her to Mirabel Medical Centre for examination,” said the policewoman. “After the result at Mirabel, the defendant was charged to court based on the allegation against him.”

The state counsel asked the court for an adjournment so that the witness could conclude her examination in chief, submitting that the original case file was not with the prosecution.

There was no objection from the defence counsel, Mr Lekan Egberongbe.
