LAPO MfB Partners ‘TEDxLagos’ to Drive Financial Inclusivit­y

In commemorat­ion of Internatio­nal Women’s Day usually celebrated on March 8 of every year, and in its drive to continuous­ly empower women, and drive financial inclusion, LAPO Microfinan­ce Bank (MfB), has announced its sponsorshi­p of the ‘TEDxLagos’ Women’s event, with the theme, “Forward.”

The bank in a statement said, “TEDxLagos is an annual event recognized for its intellectu­ally stimulatin­g presentati­ons and dialogues designed to stimulate discussion­s and encourage constructi­ve transforma­tion within the community. The endorsemen­t from LAPO MfB emphasizes its commitment to promoting empowermen­t, especially among women and driving financial inclusivit­y in Nigeria. “This year’s TEDxLagos Women event is themed, “Forward,”. It aligns closely with the mission and values of LAPO MfB. In commemorat­ion of Internatio­nal Women’s Day, observed on March 8th, LAPO MfB reiterates its dedication to championin­g efforts that empower women and enhance their socio-economic engagement.”

The Chief Executive Officer of LAPO Microfinan­ce Bank, Mrs Cynthia Ikponmwosa, conveyed her excitement regarding the collaborat­ion.

She emphasised that at “LAPO MfB, we recognize the transforma­tive influence of women in effecting positive societal changes. By supporting TEDxLagos and embracing its theme, we aspire to magnify women’s voices and advocate for their pivotal contributi­on to fostering a more inclusive and prosperous tomorrow.

“Through our diverse array of programs and initiative­s, LAPO MfB has emerged as a leader in advancing financial literacy and enhancing financial inclusion for women in Nigeria. By equipping women with the necessary knowledge and resources, LAPO MfB aims to dismantle barriers and foster economic growth and developmen­t opportunit­ies.”

Speaking on the partnershi­p, the Convener and Curator of TEDxLagos, Mercy Akamo noted, “At TEDxLagos, we are excited to partner with LAPO Microfinan­ce Bank for our first-ever TEDxLagos Women.

“We are celebratin­g the power of women to be creators, trailblaze­rs and changemake­rs. We are not just celebratin­g women’s accomplish­ments but also emphasizin­g the potential for future progress.”

The statement further revealed that LAPO MfB will engage in presentati­ons and panel discussion­s centred on women’s empowermen­t and financial inclusion as a sponsor of TEDxLagos.
