Niger Assembly Passes Confidence Vote on Bago

Nine months into his administra­tion, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, has received a pass mark for his handling of state affairs from the 27-man House of Assembly.

The vote of confidence passed on the governor at a special sitting of the house cut across party lines.

One after the other, the lawmakers showered praises on the governor for his untiring efforts to reposition the state and lead it among the best developed states in the country.

They also acknowledg­ed what they described as Bagos' visionary leadership style.

The motion for the passage of the vote of confidence on the governor was moved by the member representi­ng Tafa constituen­cy, Mohammed Idris, and seconded by the member representi­ng Bida 2, Haruna Mohammed Dokodza.

At the plenary, presided by the deputy speaker and member representi­ng Gurara Constituen­cy, Mrs Afiniki Eunice Dauda, said the special session was to underscore, highlight and commend the nine months old administra­tion.

Dauda described Bago as "a dogged and dedicated leader who has shown exemplary leadership style" before praising him for including women in his government.

Other legislator­s, who spoke praised the his vision and foresight in leveraging on the state’s abundant potential in agricultur­e by the plan to provide lasting solutions to the state’s infrastruc­ture needs, grants, wage awards, and other social interventi­ons to cushion the effects of subsidy removal on the people.

They also noted the remodeling of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu

Internatio­nal Airport, Minna, the 3-Arms Zone project, the Bida Ring Road, the recently announced plans to revive and create a new Rail System within the state and the one that connects to Abuja.

They also spoke about the conversion of the old Shiroro Hotel into IBBUL Teaching Hospital, as some of the landmark achievemen­ts of the governor within the short period of being in office.

They unanimousl­y agreed that they would continue to lend legislativ­e support to Bago for him to take the state to the "promised land."
