Petroleum Ministry Ends Retreat, Pledges to Implement Deliverables
The Ministry of Petroleum Resources has ended a three-day oil and gas sector retreat with a commitment to implement the ministerial deliverables set for the ministry and its agencies by President Bola Tinubu in November, 2023.
The Retreat with the theme: “Building Synergy for Enhanced Development in the Oil and Gas Sector”, started on Tuesday, 26 and ended on Thursday, 28 March, 2023 in Abuja, according to a statement from the Deputy Director of Press, Oluwakemi Ogunmakinwa.
Following Tuesdays’ keynote addresses by the two ministers overseeing the ministry, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and Ekperikpe Ekpo respectively, Ogunmakinwa stressed that yesterday’s session witnessed robust brainstorming.
She added that there were syndicate sessions on topical industry issues by experts in the ministry and the various agencies within its purview, all aimed at developing the oil and gas sector.
In his closing remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Nicholas Ella, said the gathering epitomised collaboration, expertise, and a shared dedication to ushering in transformative change within Nigeria's oil and gas sector.
“As we conclude this retreat, let us look to the future with optimism and determination. Our deliberations have laid the groundwork for tangible progress and sustainable development within the oil and gas sector”, he noted.
He expressed confidence that continued collaboration, innovation, and strategic focus would ensure the realisation of the shared vision of a thriving and resilient industry that drives economic growth, enhances energy security, and fosters social prosperity for all Nigerians.
“Fundamentally, what we are all looking at is the prosperity of the average Nigerian on the street. If we have enough production of crude and of gas that can serve the generality of Nigerians.
