WHO, PSHAN to Establish Standard PHCs in 774 LGAs in Nigeria

As part of an innovative drive to improve healthcare delivery in Nigeria, the World Health Organizati­on (WHO) is set to sign a Memorandum of Understand­ing (MoU) with the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PSHAN).

The MoU is to facilitate the execution of a collaborat­ive project that will see to the establishm­ent of at least one global standard Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in each of Nigeria's 774 Local Government Areas.

A statement signed by the Managing Director of PSHAN, Dr. Tinuola Akinbolagb­e said the objective of the initiative is to leverage the strengths and resources of both partners to address pressing health challenges and improve health out comes across the country.

"This is a project collaborat­ion signing ceremony between the WHO and PSHAN. This collaborat­ive project aims to establish at least one globally standard PHC) in each of Nigeria's 774 Local Government Areas in line with the guidelines of the National Primary Heath Care Developmen­t Agency (NPHCDA) and Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Programme.

"With this partnershi­p, we aim to leverage the strengths and resources of both partners to address pressing health challenges and improve health out comes across the country.
