Erhabor Wins African Reinsurance Corporation CEOs Golf Tourney
Executive Vice Chairman, Greenfield Leasing Services Limited, Jacob Erhabor has emerged winner of the maiden edition of African Reinsurance Corporation sponsored CEOs Golf Tournament, which held at the golf section of Ikoyi Club 1938 at the weekend.
Playing off handicap 14, Erhabor grossed a total of 40-stablepoints to win the tournament, beating Olubayo Latilo who also grossed 40-stableford points on countback. Gilbert Inemesit was further down in the third position shooting 39-stableford points.
Speaking shortly after being declared winner, Erhabor congratulated African Reinsurance Corporation for sponsoring the tournament, stressing that their coming to the golf sponsorship stage has been long overdue.
The one-day competition which attracted who-is-who in the Insurance industry also saw Abah Oputa winning in the ladies category. Oputa fired 35-stableford points to lead the ladies group. Nomwen Emeghalu ducked in the second position while the sections Lady Captain, Fatumata Coker with 34-stableford points came in the third position.
Other winners in the keenly contested tournament include; Hiltop Insurance Brokers, which won the Corporate Group Stableford Category after garnering 63-points. Guinea Insurance finished second losing on Countback to Hiltop Insurance. Old Mutual Life was third with a score of 57-stableford points.
Satisfied with the turnout of participants, the Group Managing
Director of African Reinsurance Corporation, Dr. Cornelle Karekezi, while thanking participants for the spirit of sportsmanship shown at the event, said the tournament was staged to celebrate the milestone and success achieved by the company.
“Golf is a difficult sport, so also is business. Just like golfers who worked hard, African Reinsurance Corporation has also worked hard to achieve what it has achieved over the years. This explains why we choose golf as the sport to celebrate our success with,” he said.
On her part, Regional Director, African Reinsurance Corporation, Temitope Akinowa said she was impressed with the turnout of golfers saying plans are on to make sure the tournament remains a regular feature on clubs golf calendar.
