Influx of foreign goods threat to local businesses - MetalMate MD

Influx of foreign substandard products is responsible for the dearth of many indigenous business enterprises, the Managing Director of MetalMate Limited, Mr. Oluwatoyin Ibrahim has observed.

He stated this while briefing newsmen on the 25th anniversary of the company, an automotive and structural steel engineering company based in Sagamu Ogun State where individuals were honoured for their support to the company since inception.

Ibrahim said the company had grown in leaps and bounds to become a household name in the country’s steel and body building industry.

However, with indigenous companies struggling to pull through many vicissitudes like lack of electricity supply, among others, the MD said uncontrolled importation has slowed down the entrepreneurial initiatives of many Nigerians.

Ibrahim noted that he is however galvanizing other like-minded CEOs to impress on the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) to stop the trend of flooding Nigerian market with substandard products.
