The Chairmen of the clubs who stated this during the unveiling of new jerseys and a media conference in Yenagoa also assured fans and supporters of the clubs that they would do well in the 2018 Nigeria National League and the National Women Football Championship.

Chairman of Bayelsa United, Mr Tony Ogola welcomed new players signed by the club and expressed readiness for the new season.

He said everything is being done by the management to return the club to the Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL.

Ogola added that if the needed support from corporate organisations is made available, Bayelsa United would be the team to beat in the NNL this season.

Also speaking, Mr Timitimi Ebiki, Chairman of the Bayelsa Queens said the women club had set up a road map to get to the top in the forthcoming National Women Football League.

He said “Most of our players are doing well. Some of them have been playing for the national teams. I hope we will get to the top when the new season commences.

“However, our challenges have been poor sponsorship from individuals because the government cannot do it alone. We need public spirited persons to help move the state owned football clubs forward.”
