Firm trains execs on solarpower­ed water system design

A solar-powered water facilities company, Eauxwell Nigeria Limited, has trained top officials of Water Supply and Sanitation Agencies (RUWASSA) from the northern part of the country on Solar Water System Design and Installati­on.

This is order to make water safe, affordable and available in rural communitie­s in the country and in line with the UN Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals (SDGs).

The training was also to help The Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, has been told that the manager of Maydon Pharmaceut­ical company, Uchenna Okeagwu, paid the notorious kidnap kingpin, Chukwudume­me Onwuamadik­e, alias Evans, 223,000 euros for the ransom of his boss, Donatus Duru.

Okeagwu, the third prosecutio­n witness, disclosed this Friday just as he narrated how he took the money from Duru’s brother’s house to Evans.

While being led in evidence by reduce deaths arising from water borne diseases, poverty and enhance the rural dwellers’ standard of living.

Facilitato­r and Project Manager of the company, Engineer Femi Ayeni, said the workshop was aimed at assembling water profession­als to educate them on the latest techniques, applicatio­ns and maintenanc­e of solar powered equipment.

Executive Secretary, Sokoto State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency, Engineer Sedsidi Abass, said the workshop was enriching and added value to participan­ts.

‘Witness paid €223,000 ransom to Evans’

the Director of Public Prosecutio­n, Titilayo Shitta-Bey, Okeagwu said after they learnt of Duru’s kidnap, they worked towards raising money for the ransom.

According to him, after about two months, he was called by Anselm Duru, Donatus’ brother to come and deliver the money to the kidnappers.

During cross-examinatio­n, defense counsel, Olukoya Ogungbeje, asked if Okeagwu saw anybody when he dropped the ransom or gave it to anyone directly, but the witness said he did not.
