Jos DisCo/Union sign procedural agreement
The Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) and the Senior Staff Association of Electricity and Allied Companies (SSAEAC) and the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) have signed a “Procedural Agreement” that will dictate the working relationship between workers and the management.
The signing of the agreement in Jos yesterday has placed JED as the fifth DisCo in the country to endorse such agreement with Labour.
The General Secretary of NUEE and President of United Labour Congress (ULC), Comrade Joe Ajearo said the document had cemented the working relationship with Jos DisCo.
On his part, PresidentGeneral of SSAEAC, Chris Okwonkwo, who was represented by the Deputy President North, Comrade Nasiru Dembo, called on members to carry out their duties with a sense of obligation, especially now that the company has secured their jobs.
The Managing-Director of JED, Alhaji Mohammed Gidado Modibbo, said previous meetings with in-house unions were more of a learning process adding that his earlier impression that unions were not interested in privatisation, and were part of the problems in the sector, had changed.
