Gunmen kill Kebbi varsity lecturer in Abuja

Unknown gunmen have killed a lecturer with the Federal University of Birnin Kebbi after the assailants went on a shooting spree, Daily Trust Saturday gathered yesterday.

The late lecturer, Abdullahi Abubakar Dakingari, was killed in Abuja after he went to see his ailing father, who is on admission in one of the hospitals in the nation’s capital.

The deceased was said to have been killed at about 10.30pm on Wednesday after he was trapped during a shooting spree in Life Camp quarters.

An uncle to the deceased, Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari, who confirmed the death, said the 38-year-old Dakingari left behind a wife and a child.

The late Dakingari has since been buried according to Islamic right in his hometown, Dakingari.

Reacting, the spokesperson of the FCT police command, ASP Mariam Yusuf, confirmed the incident, saying the command was investigating the incident.

She also said the command was intensifying efforts to secure lives and property of not only residents of Life Camp but the entire FCT.
