Again, auto crash claims 3 lives
Another motor accident along the Damaturu-Maiduguri road has claimed the lives of three youths in Yobe State bringing the figure to 27, those who have died due to road crash in the last two days.
Our correspondent learnt that the incident happened yesterday’s evening while the victims were on their way to Maiduguri to attend a wedding of a friend..
Eyewitness said that a Honda 2013 model belonging to one of the victims veered off the road while on motion and plunged into a ditch..
“The car immediately caught fire and burnt down to ashes along with the three victims before any rescue was rendered”, the witness who is a driver said.
The victims were identified as Adam Manu Girgir, a Special Assistant to the Yobe State Commissioner for Information; Umar Mustapha and Asmau
Nasidi Geidam.
Meanwhile, the Executive Secretary, Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Dr Mohammed Goje said he has since mobilized rescue team to the scene and have evacuated the remains to the morgue at the Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital, Damaturu.
Our correspondent reports that no fewer than 24 traders died and others injured following an accident involving a truck on Wednesday.
