Monarch warns against reprisal over attack on Kogi community

The Ohimegye of IguKotonka­rfe chiefdom in Kogi Local Government Area of Kogi State, Alhaji Abdulrazak Isah Koto, has warned his subjects against reprisal attacks over the recent killings of five persons in the area.

Saturday reports that gunmen suspected to assailants had in the earlier hours of Thursday, invaded Okofi community in the area and killed the chief Imam of the community’s Central Mosque, Hussaini Mundi and four others.

Alhaji Koto, while addressing some community leaders in his palace yesterday, said as the paramount ruler of the Igu -Kotonkarfe chiefdom, he belongs to everyone irrespecti­ve of tribe, religion, and ethnic affiliatio­ns.

He condemned the attack that led to the death of five Egbura’s natives in the area, while calling on all the community leaders and other chiefs in the chiefdom to ensure they caution their subjects against any provocativ­e comment and actions that could lead to breach of peace in the council.

The monarch called on his subjects to continue to live in peace with one another other irrespecti­ve of tribe, religious and ethnic difference­s, saying developmen­t can only be achieved when there is unity and peace.
