The Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) announced on Monday the approval for Qatar Airways to fly three times a week between Doha and Sohar from August 8. “Qatar Airways will start three weekly flights between the airports in Sohar and Doha from August 8,” PACA stated. The authority recently also approved a fourth weekly SalamAir flight to Sohar and a fourth weekly Air Arabia flight to Sohar.

Qatar Airways will operate Airbus A320 aircraft on this route, featuring 12 seats in Business Class and 132 seats in Econ- omy Class. Passengers can use any transfer time to take advantage of the many activities and services available at Hamad International Airport, from the free wi-fi, airside swimming pool and play areas for children, through to the multiple quiet areas in which passengers can relax as well as enjoy an array of duty free shopping and dining options.

SalamAir started its fourth flight from July 16. The other three flights operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. SalamAir will increase two flights per week between Sohar and Salalah making it a total of six a week from Thursday, July 27.

“We are adding two additional flights between Sohar and Salalah on Saturdays and Thursdays starting July 27,” SalamAir stated recently.

Mohammed bin Nasser al Zaabi, CEO of PACA, was recently quoted as saying that the growth prospects for Sohar were encouraging. “Increase in flights to and from Sohar is a good indicator of growth demand and increased passenger traffic. We look forward to more,” he said.

SalamAir started service on the Salalah and Sohar sector from June 28. The low-cost carrier began its operations with three flights a week between the two destinations.

Sharjah-based Air Arabia launched its three times a week service to Sohar on July 9.
