523 Labour Law violators arrested: MoM

Muscat - The Ministry of Manpower (MoM) stated on Monday that its inspection teams arrested 523 Labour Law violators between July 9 and 15.

Of these, 385 were commer- cial workers, 81 agricultural workers and 57 housemaids and their equivalents.

The ministry said that of the 520 arrested by the inspection teams, 349 were runaway work- ers, 140 retrenched workers and another 31 without any work documents. The Governorate of North Batinah registered the maximum number of violators at 207, followed by the Gover- norate of Muscat at 134.

During this period, the ministry deported 568 workers for violating provisions of the Labour Law and the ministerial decisions executing the law.
