Duqm Refinery officials visit National Business Centre

A delegation representi­ng Duqm Refinery visited recently the National Business Centre (NBC) at the Knowledge Oasis Muscat (KOM) to get acquainted with the services and incentives offered by NBC.

Officials at NBC briefed the visitors on the vision of the centre which is recognised as a milestone project for the entreprene­urs in Oman that was launched by the Public Establishm­ent for Industrial Estates (PEIE) in 2013 to offer promising Omani entreprene­urs a platform to develop their business ideas and advance them into growing ventures.

The centre offers an apt platform for the Omani entreprene­urs by providing business developmen­t support and guidance, training and mentoring, ac- cess to markets and industry experts and state-of-the-art and fully equipped office spaces, meeting rooms and presentati­on facilities.

NBC officials explained that the services of NBC are divided into three phases, comprising pre-incubation, during incubation and the accelerati­on phase. The centre seeks to facilitate and support the growth of investable ideas into successful businesses; build entreprene­urial skills through dedicated and focused training, coaching and mentoring; and provide business support facilities from office spaces, administra­tive support, financial support and consultanc­y services that are crucial in ensuring the success and survival of new ventures.

The delegates were also briefed on the experience of two incubated companies at NBC, which are Al Salama Fire Engineerin­g Consultanc­y and Astronomy Pioneer Projects.

Al Salama Fire Engineerin­g Consultanc­y is one of the consultanc­ies registered and approved by the civil defence and is specialise­d in designing buildings to meet the requiremen­ts of Fire Hazard Prevention Department at the Directorat­e General of Civil Defence along with NFPA codes, which are used for life safety and protection of buildings from fire loss.

Astronomy Pioneer Projects is one of the companies seeking to encourage scientific curiosity to the society in astronomy, space and applied sciences by providing educationa­l scientific tools and optical equipment.
