Renault Koleos exudes inner strength and stands out for fuel efficiency

Renault Koleos exudes an inner strength and stands out for its powerful, muscular exterior lines, unparalleled four-wheel drive technology and all-terrain ability, thanks to ground clearance of 210mm. Its record cabin space, the extensive range of equipment it proposes and its carefully appointed interior position Renault Koleos as a reference in its class for comfort and refinement.
In keeping with the Renault design strategy, Renault Koleos is covered by design pillar ‘Ex- plore,’ which stands for robustness and a taste for adventure. It was the pursuit of these qualities that inspired Renault’s designers to give Renault Koleos taut, powerful, muscular lines. Renault Koleos features classic SUV design cues: Door protective mouldings, large-diameter twotones alloy wheels with diamond effect and aluminium roof bars.
A 2.5l petrol engine
The 2.5l petrol engine is an atmospheric, four-cylinder, 16valve powerplant with double overhead camshafts. Power is 170hp (126kW) at 6,000rpm, with peak torque of 233Nm at 4,000rpm. Care was taken to minimise friction for enhanced performance and optimised fuel consumption.
With 200Nm torque available from as low as 1,800rpm, it is extremely responsive at low and mid-range engine speeds and is particularly suited to towing (up to two tonnes). It can be specified with either two- or fourwheel drive and is exclusively coupled to the X-Tronic automatic transmission.
Reducing fuel consumption
The X-Tronic automatic transmission was designed to en- hance driving enjoyment and reduce fuel consumption compared with conventional automatic transmissions. Koleos’ X-Tronic transmission performs like a multi-ratio automatic whenever the driver needs to accelerate briskly.
It ensures seamless gear shifts under acceleration by proposing an infinite number of gears. It ensures that engine revs and load are constantly optimised to deliver enhanced fuel consumption, ride comfort and low noise levels when travelling at constant speeds. The driver has the option to select a sevenspeed sequential mode to benefit
from engine braking. X-Tronic transmission provides all the benefits of conventional automatic transmissions without the downsides.
Unmatched user-friendly 4x4 technology
The all mode 4x4-i transmission available on the Koleos features technology that has been proved on millions of Alliance vehicles worldwide. This all-wheel drive system permanently monitors grip levels to guarantee optimal traction in any condition.
Very easy to use, a control switch situated to the left of the steering wheel enables the driver to select one of the three modes: 2WD, 4WD Auto or 4WD Lock.
In addition to reinforcing the Koleos’ off-road ability, the all mode 4x4-i system delivers even more dynamic performance, plus greater stability and enhanced safety. The sensors permanently monitor both longitudinal and lateral acceleration, as well as yaw rates and steering angles, to optimise front/rear torque split and thereby ensure the most ef- ficient grip possible, while also reducing understeer or oversteer.
The stylish body colours and wheel designs selected for Koleos ensure elegance. It is available in seven metallic body colours including Ultra Silver, Universal White, Metallic Grey, Metallic Black, Mineral Beige, Meissen Blue.
A protective interior
Koleos’ SUV genes are similarly prominent inside the cabin. Redolent of comfort, quality and strength, its elegant, protective interior is in perfect harmony with the model’s exterior lines.
An elevated driving position offers excellent visibility. Compared to a traditional sedan, the Koleos’ driving position is 150mm higher, a reassuring feature that is highly prized by SUV buyers.
The tall, wide dashboard is intended to give driver and passenger a sense of safety and protection. Hand grips on either side of the centre console echo the world of off-road motoring while imbuing the interior with a sporty feel.
