Seminar on Harmful Practices in International Trade
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) in collaboration with the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (PEIE) in Rusayl will organise a two-day seminar on Harmful Practices in International Trade on September 25 at Knowledge Oasis Muscat.
An expert from the World Trade Organization (WTO) will explain in detail the WTO conventions on subsidy, dumping and the increase in imports as per the WTO conventions.
MoCI has urged factories to take part in such programs and seminars, especially since the sultanate has ratified the GCC Common Law on Antidumping, Countervailing Measures and Safeguards. When this law was enforced by the GCC States, the GCC Technical Secretariat initiated investigations in a number of complaints filed by some Gulf factories against imports from some foreign countries.
The forum seminar will thus provide an opportunity for Omani factories to get insight about the measures related to filing complaints and how far the factories can protect their exports to the foreign markets. The AntiDumping Department at the Ministry will create direct communication channel with the Omani factories.
