MoCI issues more than 11,000 certificat­es of origin in Q1 of 2017

Muscat - The Statistics Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) has said that the number of certificat­es of origin issued during the first quarter of this year stood at 11,341 compared to 11,248 in the correspond­ing period last year; a growth by 0.8 per cent in Muscat, Sohar, Ibri, Sur, Khasab, Al Buraimi, Dhofar, A’Rustaq, Diba and Nizwa.

The department said that the number of certificat­es issued stood at 2661 in the Governorat­e of Muscat, 4,890 in Sohar, 516 in Ibri, 13 in Sur and 25 in Khasab (compared to 6 during the same period last year).

The statistics said that the increase in the certificat­e of origin because of supply and demand, and market activities, especially the certificat­es of origin issued by the department are for the crusher products, which are exported to the GCC States.

The number of certificat­es issued stood also at 483 in Buraimi, 756 in Dhofar, 824 in Rustaq, 65 in Diba, compared to 20 at the same period last year; a growth by 225 per cent. 108 certificat­es of origin were also issued in Nizwa.
